New Waterlin Boulevard Interchange at Turnpike to Improve Connectivity and Traffic Flow in Growing Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. [September 21, 2026] — The Osceola County Commission voted today to advance a new interchange connecting Florida’s Turnpike with the newly constructed Waterlin Boulevard, linking regional roadway networks that will provide a significant new transportation connection for Osceola County. The project will improve regional connectivity and help relieve traffic flow across the County which remains one of Central Florida’s fastest-growing areas.

The interchange will be advanced through a collaborative effort involving the Florida Turnpike Enterprise, Osceola County and the partnership between Gentry Land Company and Wheelock Street Capital, the developers of Waterlin, the 6,000-acre master-planned community currently under construction along Florida’s Turnpike in Osceola County.
By coordinating public and private resources and responsibilities, the partners are working to expedite delivery of the interchange, with an anticipated opening in late 2028–2029. The accelerated timeline will bring an important transportation improvement to the area sooner, benefiting not only future Waterlin residents, but also motorists throughout this rapidly growing area of Osceola County.

“This interchange is an example of how thoughtful growth and infrastructure investment can work hand in hand,” said Reed Berlinsky, President, Gentry Land Company. “Waterlin is making a significant investment in the future of this region by helping deliver the transportation infrastructure necessary to support a growing community. Working together with Florida’s Turnpike and Osceola County allows us to accelerate this important connection.”

The new interchange will create an additional access point to Florida’s Turnpike five miles south of the new Nolte Road interchange and improve connectivity to Waterlin Boulevard and the surrounding transportation network. The additional connection is expected to help distribute traffic more efficiently, reduce pressure on existing roadways, and provide residents with improved access to employment centers and destinations throughout Central Florida.

“Our Board has made transportation infrastructure a major priority, and this is what forward-thinking planning looks like. We are thrilled that the County and the developer came together to make this interchange a reality years ahead of when it was originally planned,” said District 3 Commissioner Brandon Arrington, Chairman of the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners. “Our partnership with the developer and the Florida Turnpike Enterprise was the catalyst for accelerating this critical connection.  Not only will it help address congestion, but it will improve mobility and support a growing part of our county years ahead of schedule.  By building strong public-private partnerships and making strategic investments, our Board is today preparing Osceola County for the transportation needs of tomorrow.”

The new interchange is moving forward as construction is actively underway in Waterlin. The community is designed to provide a variety of neighborhoods and housing choices, commercial town centers, parks, trails, and community amenities while maintaining connections to the native Florida landscape. Three homebuilders – Lennar, Perry Homes & Dream Finders Homes – are open and selling homes in the community’s first neighborhood, Founders Corner. Waterlin’s highly anticipated Welcome Center, Coffee Shop, and first amenities are under construction and nearing completion.

“As we build Waterlin, we recognize that creating a successful community means looking beyond the boundaries of the development itself,” said Berlinsky. “It means helping invest in the infrastructure that serves the larger community. The Waterlin Boulevard interchange will provide an important connection for our residents, but its impact will extend well beyond Waterlin by improving access and connectivity throughout Osceola County’s South Lake Toho Regional Master Plan.”
